How to get an API key for Google Cloud Translation

  1. Go to the website https://console.cloud.google.com.

    Notice the top line. After obtaining the key, you can use it for free for the first 90 days. Specifically, $300 USD will be credited to your Google Cloud account. This amount is sufficient for translating 15 million characters. To continue using Google's cloud service, you need to activate a credit card on the Google Cloud website. Even in this case, you can use the service for free, not exceeding 500,000 characters per month (this corresponds to approximately 180-200 pages of the book). If you exceed these limits, the cost will be proportional to $20 USD per 1 million characters. You can find current pricing for Google Cloud on the website https://cloud.google.com/translate/pricing

  2. Click on the "SIGN IN" link.

  3. Click on the "Create account link"
  4. Then select "For my personal use."

  5. Enter your name and, if you want, your surname.
  6. Then click on the "Next" button.

  7. Provide your date of birth and your gender.
  8. Then click on the "Next" button.

  9. Enter the email address to which you have access.
  10. Then click on the "Next" button.

  11. Enter the code sent to the specified email.
  12. Then click on the "Next" button.

  13. Create your password and enter it in two fields. Remember this password for future access to your account on this site.
  14. Then click on the "Next" button.

  15. You can add your phone number and then click on the "Next" button. This will help you recover your password if you forget it.
    Or click on the "Skip" button.

  16. On this screen, сlick on the "Next" button.

  17. Scroll to the bottom of the "Privacy and Terms" section and click on the "I agree" button

  18. In the pop-up window, check the "Terms of Service" checkbox.
  19. Then click on the "AGREE AND CONTINUE" link.

  20. To create a new project, click on "Select a project".

  21. Then in the pop-up window, click on the link "NEW PROJECT".

  22. Enter any project name or leave the default name.
  23. Then сlick on the "CREATE" button.

  24. To go to the newly created project, click again on "Select a project".

  25. Choose your project name from the list.

  26. Open the menu (three small lines in the upper corner of the screen) and select "API & Services" --> "Enabled APIs & services".

  27. Go to the link "+ ENABLE APIS AND SERVICES".

  28. In the search bar, type the word "translation" and press the "Enter" key.

  29. In the search results, select "Cloud Translation API".

  30. Click on the "ENABLE" button to add "Cloud Translation API" to your project.

  31. In the pop-up window, click the "ENABLE BILLING" button.

  32. In the new pop-up window, click the "CREATE BILLING ACCOUNT" button.

  33. Click the "AGREE & CONTINUE" button.

  34. In the "Account type" section, click on the field that says "Business".
  35. Select "Individual" from the drop-down list.

  36. Then enter credit card details, such as the number, expiration date, three-digit security code, and home address.
  37. Click the "START FREE" button.

  39. In the pop-up window with the title “Welcome”, click the “CLOSE” button or you can answer all the questions and click the “DONE” button when finished.

  40. Click the "ENABLE" button again.

  41. To create an API key, you can click the "CREATE CREDENTIALS" button, or if it's not there, open the menu (three small lines in the upper corner of the screen) and select "API & Services" --> "Credentials".

  42. Click the link "+ CREATE CREDENTIALS".

  43. Then click the link "API key".

  44. The API key is created. Do not show it to anyone and do not store it in a public place.
